What Is an Immigration Physical?
Also called a USCIS medical exam, this physical is required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for certain immigration applications. The exam must be completed by a physician who is designated as a civil surgeon by USCIS.
The goal of this physical is to ensure that you are free of any communicable diseases and meet the public health requirements for immigration.
What to Expect During Your Visit
When you come in for your immigration physical, our certified civil surgeon will:
- Review your medical history and vaccination records
- Perform a physical examination
- Order required laboratory tests, such as a tuberculosis (TB) blood test
- Review or administer necessary vaccines (per CDC and USCIS guidelines)
- Complete and seal Form I-693, which is submitted with your immigration paperwork
We aim to complete most immigration exams in 1-2 visits. If you need vaccinations or follow-up testing, we’ll explain the process clearly and guide you step-by-step.
What Should You Bring?
To help your appointment go smoothly, please bring the following:
- Government-issued photo ID (passport, visa, or driver’s license)
- Vaccination records (translated to English if needed)
- Any records of prior medical conditions or treatments
- Form I-693 (we also provide this in the clinic if needed)
